Photo of the Week: Broken Heart April 18, 2007
I'm actually not very happy with the way this turned out. The lights were too strong and blew out the highlights on the tops of the hearts. I should try it again without the two billion watt fluorescent lights. On the other hand, the new bulbs I used were rated at 6400K daylight color temperature, and they resulted in a nice white light instead of the yellowish cast produced by ordinary household light bulbs.

I don't think it's blown out/over exposed. I do think that it might be a little oversaturated so you're seeing some "bleeding" around the edges.
If you've got two lights trying putting one on the far side. I think it the shadow to the left of the heart were a little blacker and longer it would add an even more ominous tone.
I like it a lot!

Yeah, it's a bit oversaturated. I get carried away with that sometimes. There are two lights, one on each side. I reshot this last night using some new tips for getting a proper exposure and it turned out a lot better. I should post that one as a follow up.

That's a cool photo! (I don't know nothin' about saturation an' teckinal stuff. All I knows is that it's creative an' I'd frame it an' put it on the wall.)
